The Iron Tree (The Crowthistle Chronicles, Book 1) by Cecilia Dart-Thornton

2 December 2007, Sunday at 10:43:39 am (Books)

The Iron TreeI didn’t really finish the book. I thought it was too detailed. Of course it made the setting more vivid in my imagination but mostly I thought it was unnecessary. I was more interested in the story – which is why I picked up the book in the first place – but the descriptions distracted me from that. I had to skip pages towards the end. I just wanted to get it over with and find out what would happen to Jarred and Lilith.

And BTW, the book’s (Mass Market Paperback edition) regular price was PHP459.00. It’s much too steep.

I actually had the other two books (Hardcover edition) reserved at my favorite local bookstore but I canceled my reservation after reading The Iron Tree‘s first chapter. I’ll probably buy the paperback editions eventually but that’s mostly just because I hate leaving things unfinished. I have to find out what happens next!

Let That Be Enough by Switchfoot

2 December 2007, Sunday at 9:44:40 am (Music) ()

Let That Be Enough
Switchfoot

I wish I had what I needed
To be on my own
‘Cause I feel so defeated
And I’m feeling alone

And it all seems so helpless
And I have no plans
I’m a plane in the sunset
With nowhere to land

And all I see
It could never make me happy
And all my sandcastles
Spend their time collapsing

Let me know that You hear me
Let me know Your touch
Let me know that You love me
Let that be enough

It’s my birthday tomorrow
No one here could know
I was born this Thursday
22 years ago

And I feel stuck
Watching history repeating
Yeah, who am I?
Just a kid who knows he’s needy

Let me know that You hear me
Let me know Your touch
Let me know that You love me
Let that be enough…

All I Ask of You (The Phantom of the Opera)

2 December 2007, Sunday at 9:44:09 am (Movies, Music) (, )

ALL I ASK OF YOU
(lyrics by Charles Hart, Richard Stilgoe; music by Andrew Lloyd Webber)

Raoul
No more talk of darkness,
forget these wide-eyed fears;
I’m here, nothing can harm you,
my words will warm and calm you.
Let me be your freedom,
let daylight dry your tears;
I’m here, with you, beside you,
to guard you and to guide you.

Christine
Say you’ll love me ev’ry waking moment;
turn my head with talk of summertime.
Say you need me with you now and always;
promise me that all you say is true,
that’s all I ask of you.

Raoul
Let me be your shelter,
let me be your light;
you’re safe, no one will find you,
your fears are far behind you.

Christine
All I want is freedom,
a world with no more night;
and you, always beside me,
to hold me and to hide me.

Raoul
Then say you’ll share with me one love, one lifetime;
let me lead you from you solitude.
Say you need me with you, here beside you,
anywhere you go, let me go too,
that’s all I ask of you.

Christine
Say you’ll share with me one love, one lifetime.
Say the word and I will follow you.

Together
Share each day with me, each night, each morning.

Christine
Say you love me…

Raoul
You know I do.

Together
Love me, that’s all I ask of you.

Anywhere you go let me go too
Love me…
that’s all I ask of you.
